Gord Burke

Principal

Gord established Burke & Company Limited, a full service boutique consulting firm in 1991. As the founding principal of B&Co, Gord has built the business on a client focused approach to consulting resulting in practical advice and tailored solutions to fit the client’s business and environment.

Gord brings over 30 years of experience in the benefit consulting industry and has worked with many of Canada’s leading companies. His expertise allows him to bring creativity and innovation to the process of developing benefit plan strategy in the area of design and financial control.

In the past, Gord was a guest lecturer at the Masters Industrial Relations program at the University of Toronto and has assisted with the Disability management section of the CEBS program.

Selected Projects

  • Developed and executed a benefit strategy to accommodate the removal of two public agencies from a large municipal benefit plan into a new arms length corporation benefit plan. During the transition the importance of changing the benefits from a defined benefit plan to a hybrid contribution plan for the non-union employees was identified.
  • Participates on a large national employer’s health and wellness board to address issues surrounding workers, absenteeism and disability management.
  • Through in-house professional expertise developed a unique claims audit process which has favourably impacted many clients in recent years.
